Las visitas
En las montañas
los pinzones
son
cuatro sillas
dispuestas
en diagonal
ante la ventana
sobre cuyo alfeizar
los tomates maduran
desde arriba
sobre la
repisa
de la chimenea
el reloj
palpita
en la puerta
el prado
rueda
hacia el camino
delineado
de un lado por
una pared de piedra
el espacio
allí
la entrada al
jardín
una jamba de
rudbequia
una jamba de
manzano
el jardín
para lo que
vino
a la mesa
como hierba
o verde
o vid
una zona
segada luego enrollada
para los pinos
de doscientos años
las zarzas
los bosques
el a veces seco arroyo
por una vez rebosante
de
anhelos
de lluvias
y el matiz
del margen de la rosa
a cinco mil pies
la vista
desde la ventana
dos sillas
para los ocupantes
dos sillas
paradas
para las visitas
que siempre vuelven

catty-corner
before the window
on whose sill
tomatoes ripen
from above
on the
chimmey
piece
the clock
ticks
down
at the door
the lawn
rolls
to the road
lined
one side by
rock wall
the space
in it
the gate to
the garden
a side post of
goldenglow
a side post of
apple tree
the garden
for what
came
to the table
as herb
or green
or vine
a mown
tract then rolled
to the two-hundred
year pines
the brambles
the woods
the sometime dry brooks
brimming for once
with
wished-for
rain
and the range`s
rim rose
five thousand feet
the view
from the window
two chairs
for the occupants
two chairs
standing
for the ever-returning
guests.
